PSD lawmaker Victor Surdu dies at 63

Victor Surdu has just died at the age of 63. The PSD deputy was suffering of pancreatic cancer for a while. In February, Victor Surdu, – Similea Angela’s husband – has been hospitalized at St. Pantelimon Hospital, the Department of Surgery, after a long treatment and several pancreas surgeries.

The National Council and also the members of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development – headed by Surdu – expressed their regrets for “the loss of a colleague, friend and mentor.”

“Throughout his teaching and political activity, Victor Surdu was a genuine benchmark of professionalism, generosity and dedication. His skills made him be surrounded by people of all ages and helped him communicate and listen to everyone. Victor Surdu managed to transform the agriculture into an attractive and enjoyable activity for everyone, even the non-professionals” it was said in a statement.

Ion Munteanu, who worked with Victor Surdu during the 2008 election campaign, told Romanian media that the PSD deputy was having regularly medical analysis, but the latest results indicated that an immediate surgery is required.
