Ion Lucian was hospitalized earlier this month at Floreasca Emergency Hospital being suspected of having bronchopneumonia and anemia. Ion Lucian refused 98 times to leave the country.
Ion Lucian, a director and founder of Excelsior Theatre, was born on April 22, 1924, in Bucharest and graduated Bucharest’s Royal Academy of theater and music in 1945. At 18 he played on the stage of the National Theatre, then, from 1945 to 1947, worked for the Alhambra Theatre of Operetta.
Bucharest Municipal Theatre (now Theatre Bulandra) employed Mr. Lucian between 1947-1952 and from 1956 to 1960. He climbed the stage of Nottara in 1952, to join later the Comedy Theatre (1960-1964, 1972-1990).
Founder and director (1964 – 1972) of Children’s Theatre “Ion Creanga” and Excelsior Theatre Bucharest (1990), Ion Lucian was a professor of the Theatre and Film Institute (1952-1956), and between 1998 and 2000 he taught at Hyperion University in the Romanian capital.
Ion Lucian participated on May 4, 2011 at the inauguration of the new headquarter of Excelsior Theatre, one of the rooms bearing the name of the actor who made real efforts into the opening of this cultural institution. Source: realitatea.net
