A Virgin Atlantic passenger jet made an emergency landing in London Gatwick airport, all other flights operated at same airport being temporarily suspended because of the incident, informs Sky News. Fire brigades were called to the spot following reports of “small fire”.
Flight VS27 was operated by an Airbus A330-300 which was carrying 299 passengers and 13 crew members on board. The aircraft had just taken off to Orlando (Florida), but the pilots decided to return to Gatwick (London). “Due to technical problems, the captain decided to evacuate passengers immediately after the emergency landing,” it was said in a statement released by the company. Some people inhaled smoke but no one was severely injured.
