Swiss tennis player Roger Federer beat 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 Andy Murray in the men’s final at Wimbledon 2012. Thus Federer claimed his 17 Grand Slam title by setting a new record in world tennis (scroll down for video highlights).
Besides the record-breaking 17th Grand Slam trophy, Federer jumped on top of the ATP rankings thus becoming again the world number one after 2 years. Furthermore he claimed the Wimbledon for the 7th time in his career.
As a coincidence, the Swiss broke again the Grand Slam winnings record in a final against Murray. In 2010, they met in the final match at the Australian Open where Federer overpowered Murray to gain his 16th GS title.
Unfortunately Andy Murray added another Grand Slam final defeat to his portfolio. He sought to become the first British tennisman to win the Wimbledon title after a 76-year break.
