Romanian Alin Moldoveanu won the 10 m air rifle men’s shooting at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Moldoveanu progressed to the final after equalizing the Olympic record in the qualifying stage with 599 points.

In the final which took place at the Royal Artillery Barracks in London on Monday, the Romanian athlete achieved 103.1 points and earned the gold medal with an overall 702.1 points.

Alin Moldoveanu dominated the final, but had lost the first place after six shootings. However, the Olympic champion managed to stay calm and came back to the top after the last six shots, thereby achieving an exceptional performance.

Moldoveanu was the first among the Romanian athletes who qualified for the Olympics. The athlete from Focsani is prepared by Sorin Babii, a double Olympic medalist.
