Catholic religious ceremony, held in French and English by the Archbishop of Luxembourg Jean-Claude Hollerich, started at around 09.00 GMT, at the Our Lady / Notre Dame cathedral in the capital of the duchy.
28-year-old Countess of Lannoy, Stéphanie, the youngest daughter of an old belgian aristocratic family, made her entry into the cathedral accompanied by her eldest brother, Jehan.
Bride’s dress, designed by Elie Saab, was made of ivory lace with silver thread embroidery and a white silk veil adorned with silver floral embroidery that trailed around 5 meters behind.
The current Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, wearing a military uniform, was accompanied during Saturday’s religious ceremony by his aunt Countess Stéphanie -the sister of Countess Alix of Lannoy who died in late august. In fact the religious ceremony began with a minute of silence in her memory.
Grand Duke and Heir of Luxembourg Guillaume, who will soon turn 31, wore during his wedding ceremony a military outfit as well and entered the cathedral on the arm of his mother, Grand Duchess Maria-Teresa, who wore a pink gown.
