Unbelievable but true! Could you imagine being so badly tricked by your GPS so that you need to drive half of a continent to get to a… neighboring city? Well, it just happened,,,,in Belgium, West Europe.
The 67-year-old Sabine Moreau jumped in in her car Saturday morning for a ride to Brussels North. Normally that’s just an hour drive. “My GPS somehow got in troubles and provided several directions that I had to follow. And then… it went wrong.”
She kept driving for hours without thinking too much. “I saw all kinds of traffic signs along the road. First in French, then in German: Köln, Aachen, Frankfurt. But I didn’t ask myself any question. I just kept accelerating,” said the old woman.

Sometimes is better to check also the traffic signs for directions, not only GPS. (FLICKR / mariocutroneo)
Hard to imagine but the Belgian lady did not realize she was on the wrong direction. However she found out the mistake only when arriving in the Croatian capital of Zagreb. Moreau took the same road back to Belgium. She arrived two days later, on a Monday.
So, that was a very special car ride. Quite an embarrassing situation, but Moreau seemed not to care too much about, according to Belgian newspaper De Standaard. When asked the question: “Don’t you think it’s a little weird?” Moreau replied: “Maybe, but I was just distracted and preoccupied.”
