Video footage from Italian Catholic television TV2000 shows Pope Francis allegedly performing an exorcism on a wheelchair-bound young person. However, the Vatican denied the incident later, claiming that the Pope only prayed for the young man and did not try to exorcise him.

The controversial event took place at St. Peter Square on Sunday.

Francis Pope is seen passing by several parishioners and stopping in front of a disabled man who many folks claim was possessed by devil.

After a short greeting, Francis put his hands on man’s head and began saying prayers. At one point, pilgrim’s body started to tremble and move convulsively for several seconds.

“Exorcists who have seen the footage have no doubt – this was a prayer for liberation from Evil, an actual exorcism,” said TV2000, which is owned by the Italian Bishops Conference.
