British diplomat commits suicide jumping from the 7th floor of a Baia Mare hotel

Romanian media claims that a British citizen, reportedly having a diplomatic rank, committed suicide on Thursday by jumping from the 7th floor of “Mara” hotel in the city of Baia Mare (scroll down for video report).

47-year-old Ian Saunders, checked in on January 14, at 22:00 and asked hotel representatives to accommodate him on the top floor. The man was supposed to leave today, but he extended his stay by another day, writes local website “actualmm.ro”.

Eyewitnesses saw the victim today balancing on the edge of the balcony. They called emergency number 112 but meanwhile the man threw himself from the 7th floor. Emergency services that arrived at the scene made efforts to resuscitate the man, but nothing could be done to save his life.
