Dennis Rodman admitted to rehab to treat alcohol addiction after controversial visit to North Korea

Rodman checked into the rehab on the Eastern Coast of the United States and it’s not clear how long he will stay there.

Rodman – an ex-basketballer with NBA’s Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls, who is widely famous for his tattoos, piercings and strange behavior – came recently back to the U.S after a hectic travel to North Korea, a country governed by one of the most repressive governments in the world.

Rodman claimed that alcohol was one of factors for talking irresponsibly earlier this month when he told CNN that the U.S. citizen Kenneth Bae jailed in North Korea from 2012 would have probably done something wrong to deserve being sentenced to 15 years of hard labor.

After departing from North Korea, Rodman was severely criticized for his friendship with the North-Korean leader. A huge group of journalists “welcomed” him at the airport in Bejing where Rodman dropped tears as he replied to questions.

The athlete also said: “I’m sorry for what is happening in North Korea, in certain situations,” but without apologizing for the trip.

Dennis Rodman had visited North Korea three times in 2013.
