VIDEO: Simona Halep beats Agnieszka Radwanska to qualify in Qatar Total Open Final at Doha

Romanian tennis star Simona Halep qualified for the final match of women’s tennis tournament “Qatar Total Open 2014” in Doha. In the semi-finals, Halep won in two straight sets 7-5, 6-2 over Polish and No. 4 WTA Agnieszka Radwanska following a magnificent game that lasted one hour and 27 minutes. Romania’s Simona Halep thrashed Radwanska to play women tennis final at WTA Qatar Open

In the final act on Sunday, Halep will fight for Qatar’s Trophy against World’s No. 9 Angelique Kerber of Germany.

This is the first finale in 2014 and career’s tenth for world’s number 10, Simona Halep. Her sporting portfolio shows six titles, all claimed last year.

In the direct confrontations, Polish Radwanska had won three times over Simona whose only only win took place at the previous meeting in Rome, 6-7 ( 2 ), 6-1, 6-2.

In Doha, Halep surpassed another player in the Top 10 WTA rankings as she defeated world’s number 7, Sara Erraniof Italy in the quarter finals, score 6-2, 6-0.

Qatar Total Open 2014 endows prize money amounting to 2.440.070 dollars. Last winner of the tournament was Victoria Azarenka, in 2013.

“It was an incredible tournament for me. We played very well tonight. When being led 5-2 in the first set I said that I have nothing to lose, so I changed tactics. I started playing aggressive, but more intelligent. I’m very happy with my performance,” said Simona Halep.

“Many people came tonight to cheer for me. They came in every day and I like to have their support. My family and my close friends are also here. I want to thank them for their support and ask them to come also tomorrow”, added Halep.

About her final opponent in, Halep said:
“Angelique Kerber is a very good player. I must start the match aggressively and if that does not work I’ll change tactics again, as I did today. Yet I have to play the game”, said Simona Halep.

Simona Halep and Angelique Kerber met each other only once in their career. Back in 2009 , in the first round of the tournament in Saint Raphael (France) Simona won over the German contender in three sets: 5-7, 6-2 , 7-5.
