Halep qualified for the semifinals after defeating world’s no.78 Casey Dellacqua (Australia ) in two straight sets 6-2 6-2. This win combined with elimination of Jelena Jankovic (Serbia) in the quarterfinals, made Halep climb up 2 positions in the WTA rankings thus becoming world’s no. 5 as of next Monday. The 5th spot in the WTA hierarchy made Simona the best player ever in the history of Romania.

Radwanska advanced to the semifinals after beating Serbian Jelena Jankovic, score 7-5, 2-6 , 6-4. At the end of the match Radwanska declared that Halep has an incredible season and remembered also their previous meeting recently when she had no solution against the Romanian. “Simona really has an incredible season, like last year. I lost to her two weeks ago in Doha. I did not play bad at that time, but she played unbelievably. I could not do anything to gain from them. I look forward to meeting her again, especially now, when she reached WTA Top 5,” said Radwanska.
