Romania-Moldova pro-union rally organized in Chisinau

The Moldovan capital city of Chisinau has turned into a celebratory spot on Sunday when people unveiled their skills in performing the “dance of the Union”. Over the course of the event, dozens of participants holding Romanian and European Union flags, demanded the long desired merger of Bessarabia and Romania.

The gathering was organized by the unionist group “Actiunea 2012”, who say that the union with Romania is the only way for Moldova to have a better future, quality education and incorruptible justice.

Chisinau National Square was engulfed in tricolor flags for several hours as the citizens attended the rally commemorating the 97th anniversary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania, celebrated annually on March 27th.

After chanting and giving speeches, the crowd strolled through the city and stopped in front of several embassies of European countries where they requested support for Moldova’s integration into the European Union via unification with Romania.

According to police, the rally was attended by about a thousand people but the organizers claimed that over two thousand people joined the event.
