False bomb threat grounds Turkish Airlines flight at Istanbul airport

A false bomb alert stranded a Turkish Airlines flight at Istanbul airport Wednesday evening, a few days after the air operator announced the identification of the author of three previous similar threats, informs agency EFE.

According to the daily Hurriyet, after disembarking passengers arrived on a flight from Tallinn (Estonia) plane found a note saying “there is a bomb”. As a result, the airplane – which was scheduled to fly further to Adana in southern Turkey – remained grounded for investigation as police questioned a passenger who sat on the place where the note was found.

This incident reminds us of three other similar cases that broke out in March and April when Turkish Airlines passenger planes bound for Lisbon, Tokyo and Sao Paulo, were forced to make an emergency landing following such threats.

Just as happened Wednesday night, the authorities found on all three previous planes notifications referring to the presence of a bomb on board. The investigations revealed that the threat messages were written by a Turkish Airlines employee who was part of the cabin crew on the three airplanes.
