Romanian runner Tiberiu Useriu was the first to cross the finish line of the world’s coldest and toughest foot race after running 566 kilometers at the North Pole in extremely difficult weather conditions.

Useriu led the race from start to finish from Eagle Plains, Yukon to the banks of the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk. Likeys 6633 Actic Ultra Marathon kicked off on March 11, 2016 in Canada and challenged the participants to travel the 566-kilometer distance near the Polar Circle within just 150 hours.

Despite injuring his leg shortly before the end of the race, Tiberiu Useriu managed to finish the competition with a remarkable one hour advance compared to the contestant who came second, Toh Poh Joo of Singapore.

Before the 2016 edition of the arctic foot race, Tiberiu Useriu reportedly followed a tough workout in his county of Romania. 6633 Arctic Ultra Marathon was completed this year also by the other two Romanians who joined the contest. Vlad Tanase and Andrei Rosu had an outstanding performance both finishing the race on the third place.
