After more than half a century, the first commercial flight between the United States and Cuba landed on the Caribbean island on Wednesday, thus marking a new stage of rapprochement between the two former enemies.

An Airbus A320 with 150 passengers on board took off at 9:45 am (local time) from Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport in Florida and landed an hour later at Santa Clara in central Cuba.

JetBlue flight is part of the 110 daily flights to be performed between the US and Cuba as stipulated in the agreement signed in February by leaders in Washington and Havana after the resumption of relationship between the two countries.
