Andreea Cristea, a 31-year-old Romanian woman who was injured in the vehicle-ramming attack that rocked London on March 22, has died, said Scotland Yard. She had been hospitalized for two weeks in critical condition.

Romanian ambassador to UK, Dan Mihalache, confirmed the death of the young woman adding that all necessary assistance for repatriation of her body will be provided.

The family statement reads: “After fighting for her life for over two weeks, our beloved and irreplaceable Andreea – wonderful daughter, sister, partner, dedicated friend and the most unique and life loving person you can imagine – was cruelly and brutally ripped away from our lives in the most heartless and spiritless way. She will always be remembered as our shining ray of light that will forever keep on shining in our hearts.”

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said he was “deeply saddened to hear of the death of Andreea Cristea”. He tweeted: “Londoners hold her & her loved ones in our thoughts today.”
