Kimia Alizadeh, the first and only Iranian athlete earning a medal at the Olympic Games, announced that she has fled the country and moved to Europe. She motivated her defection through the “hypocrisy” and “lies” of the Tehran regime which uses athletes for political purposes.

“I am one of the millions of oppressed women in Iran, who the authorities have been playing with for years. I wore everything they asked me to. I repeated everything they told me to. None of us matter to them”, the 21-year-old athlete wrote on Instagram.
