American millionaire Chuck Blazer, a former management senior of FIFA, admitted that Federation officials took bribes in the assignment process of the 1998 and 2010 editions of the World Cup. Blazer’s revealings, which were published on Wednesday by the American justice, date back to 2013 when he was indicted for extortion and corruption. The publication of these disclosures show a different extent of the corruption phenomenon, as the International Federation of Football (FIFA) faces an unprecedented crisis.
Blazer revealed the backstage tricks used in the selection of the hosts of two editions of the World Cup in what appears to be the first confession of a senior FIFA official on the obscure practices used by the football’s governing body.

“Sepp Blatter was nicknamed “Don Mafia” for his arrogance and the iron hand with which he led FIFA for 18 years, using methods similar to those seen in the famous film series “The Godfather”, said Alexandra Wrage, -a former member of international governing committee of FIFA-, for CBS television.
