    An American RQ-170 Sentinel type plane was shot down in Iran on Saturday. According to Reuters, the drone crashed in the eastern part of the country. The plane was on a reconnaissance mission and had no crew on board.

    However the U.S. denied the allegations over the incident. Instead NATO-led ISAF mission in Afghanistan disclosed that the US drone might be the one which lost contact with flight control center over western Afghanistan last week and now possibly to have crashed somewhere over the border in the neighbouring Iran.

    Iran military shot down an RQ-170 plane somewhere in eastern Iran, the Iranian state television -citing an unidentified military source- announced on Saturday.

    The unmanned RQ-170 Sentinel aircraft is used in reconnaissance missions and not being designed to carry weapons.

    Pentagon chief, Leon Panetta said Friday that there is no guarantee that any air strikes against Iran regarding its nuclear program will achieve its targets, noting that certain targets are ‘hard to hit’, informs AFP.

    According to AFP, Friday was for the first time when Leon Panetta, who addressed a meeting organized in Washington, seemed to suggest that Iran’s underground nuclear facilities could withstand such attacks.
