Doha Explosion: A violent explosion took place in Qatar on Thursday killing at 12 people, including 2 children, and injuring 32 other.
According to preliminary investigation, it appears that a gas tank caused the huge explosion which partially destroyed the building and wrecked the cars nearby. Initial reports had claimed that it was a gas cylinder that blew up.
“There was also a small fire, but that was put out rapidly. The fire was not important, and we could overcome it easily, but the explosion was so huge and caused the damage,” said one official who added that “a tank – and not a cylinder – of gas exploded”.
“The blast occurred today at Istanbul restaurant next to a gas station,” the Qatar News Agency (QNA) said.
