A rare species of horse fly was renamed by the Australian researchers who have decided to call it Beyonce along with its original Latin name, informed the website of magazine New Musical Express.
The first insect of this species, which henceforth will be called Scaptia (Plinthina) Beyonceae, was discovered in 1981, the year when the American artist was born.
This type of horse flies feature a yellow area on their abdomen and that’s why scientists decided to name them Beyonce.
Bryan Lessard of Australia’s Scientific Research Agency CSIRO says that the yellow area was the key factor that determined the Australian scientists to assert that Scaptia (Plinthina) Beyonceae is the “fly diva of all time”.
