A unexpected natural event emerged in the United Arab Emirates where temperatures dropped down to -3 degrees Celsius triggering a snowfall in Ras Al Khaimah region.
Jebel Jais Mountain was covered by a white blanket that exceed ten centimeters in some places. People have climbed the mountain up to a height of approximately 1,900 meters in order to take pictures, but also to get in touch with the soft flakes.
The snowfall, which is a very rare phenomenon in the UAE, gave drivers headaches and created traffic jams stretching over tens of kilometers. Authorities have asked motorists to be cautious while on the roads.
United Arab Emirates have a tropical climate with little rainfall and temperatures that do not usually drop below 10 degrees Celsius. Forecasters say the weather gets warmer in the coming days.
