Aurora Police reports that a shooter opened fire on Friday at a movie theater in a Denver area, murdering 14 people and injuring at least 50 other (scroll down for video report).
The shooting took place while people were watching the latest Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises,” revealed policeman Dan Oates.
The shocking incident started around 12:30 a.m. MDT as the gunman stood at the front of one of the Century 16 theaters at the Aurora Mall.
“Witnesses tell us he [gunman] apparently had some sort of canister. They heard a hissing noise as some gas was released and killer started shooting,” Oates said in a public statement.
One suspect was arrested and there’s no proof if the existence of other gunmen, Oates said.
There reason behind the shooting is still unknown.

Initially Hayden thought the shooting was part of a noisier movie next door. But then he saw “people rushing to leave the theater.”
2 people in critical condition were taken to Swedish Medical Center, spokeswoman Nicole Williams said.
Williams said emergency teams told her staff to wait for more patients from the shooting spot.
“We’re on standby to receive,” she said.
Aurora is a small suburb lying some 16 kilometers southwest of Denver city center.
