Angry Argentines protest against Romanians: We are cursed by gypsies!

Would Romania be blamed for Argentina's poor performance at Copa America 2011???

It looks like the Argentinian media should inform better before opening their mouth! They should also learn what a signed agreement means.

Argentines have not received well the news that Romanian Football Federation (FRF) plans to sue them after they announced that no longer come to Bucharest for the friendly match scheduled on August 10, 2011.

One of the most popular newspapers in Argentina, Ole, “jumped” to the neck of the Romanias, whom they accuse of wishing to suck money from the Argentinean Football Association (AFA). Really? Wasn’t suppose to be the other way around? (check the agreement contract)

Under the title “Gypsy Curse,” the newspaper writes: “it is not enough for them that kicked us out of the World Championship in 1994, but now they want to extort also money from us.” Do the Argentines identify so well with Aryan race if the Romanian are gypsy? (scroll down for brief overview of the Romanian history, population, language). Besides that, for this game (listed at FIFA), the Romanian Federation had to pay Argentina and not inversely!!!

Subsequently, the newspaper changed the title of the article in “Like in ’94?”, instead the URL of the news yet remained “Gypsies’ Curse.”

Football Federation of Argentina had said Tuesday morning via the official website, that the national team will not be present in Bucharest for a friendly dispute previously scheduled for August 10.
In response, FRF president Mircea Sandu, threatened the Argentines with a FIFA complain and claimed compensation of over two million Euro.

To note that Argentina’s football governing body was supposed to receive $1.2 million for fulfilling the contract terms and allowing the national team to attend the friendly match against Romania.

Ole publication drew also plenty of criticism from their own readers (probably that was the reason the news outlet changed the initial title of the article): The comments of the Argentinian readers are mostly critical on Argentine soccer federation. For example the outraged reader Val wrote on Val26/07/201111:35: “Denunciar: Probably only one *** could set up a title like this ” Maldicion-gitana”. I am working in romanian online business but a title like this was never seen before. Shame … Shame on you guys. To much passion is never to good”.

Short overview about Romania, Romanians and their language.
Population: The name “Romanian” is derived from Latin “Romanus”. Inhabited by the ancient Dacians, today’s territory of Romania was conquered by the Roman Empire in 106, when emperor Traian’s army defeated the army of Dacia’s ruler Decebalus. The Romans withdrew 200 years later, under the pressure of the Goths and Carpi. The Romanian people was formed by the Romanization of the Roman Province of Dacia. The Romanians are descended from local populations: Dacian (Getae, Thracians) and Roman Empire’s legionnaires and colonists.
Language: The origins of Romanian-language, a Romance language, can be traced back to the Roman colonization of the region. The basic vocabulary is of Latin origin, although there are some slang words that are assumed to be of Dacian origin. Of all the Romance languages, Romanian is the most conservative language, having retained, for example, the inflected structure of Latin grammar.
