American Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson was killed in Afghanistan and his body was placed in a coffin wrapped by the US flag. It looks like not only the present audience dropped tears. In the room made its appearance another attendant: soldier’s loyal Labrador dog. The faithful animal lay down and mourned his master (scroll down for video of funerals).

Dog Hawkeye mourning Navy Seal member Jon Tumilson who was killed in Afghanistan

Tumilson’s Labrador, Hawkeye, was pictured streching by Tumilson’s coffin in a heart-breaking image snapped at the memorial held in Tumilson’s hometown of Rockford, Iowa. Hawkeye approached the casket when the service started and subsequently lay down with a heaving sigh as all the 1,500 attendants watched the dog backing his owner until the last moments.

The picture was taken by Tumilson’s cousin, Lisa Pembleton, and uploaded on her Facebook account in memory of the San Diego resident. Jon Tumilson, 35, died on August 6, 2011 when the Taliban fired a rocket-propelled grenade crashing a Chinook helicopter and killing 30 US troops including 22 Navy SEALs.

  1. til death do us part only applies to people. This is why dogs are some of God’s noblest creations.

  2. Where have gone the flowers gone, long time passing? When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn? Must we wait more for the Americans stop spreading misery, manslaughter and devastation in the name of money? Today more than ever, we should sing most fervently that “We shall overcome” from a heart touching artist as Mrs. Baez.

  3. may God bless this family and this ourstanding Labrador, as we are LOYAL Labrador owners for years.
