It looks like SWA does not tolerate many things with many similar incidents occuring in the past. For example Billie Joe Armstrong and Kevin Smith were also left on the ground becuase they did not comply with the regulations. Smith reasoned his removal for being too large in the seat (next time he should go on diet) and Billie Joe was kicked off for wearing “inappropriate” pants.

It is my understanding that when you are writing a story intended to be printed, aired or posted on a website, as a Journalist, you were taught in Journalism 101 how important it is to “get the story right”, “check out your sources”, etc. Seems pretty basic, yes? Well in this case, whomever wrote this story, the byline says only “foxcrawl”, did none of these things.

I would like to see a formal apology from “foxcrawl” for associating Nina Garduno with Leisha Hailey in regard to this story entitled, “Leisha Hailey removed from Southwest Airlines plane after kissing girlfriend Nina Garduno”.

First, the Fashion Designer, Nina Garduno, was NOT there and second, Nina Garduno is NOT the girlfriend of Leisha Hailey. In addition, using an unfortunate situation involving a flight attendant whose poor choice of words when addressing Leisha and her band mate about complaints made by several passengers who found the PDA between them clearly offensive, as a catalyst to create publicity for herself, not check the story for mistakes before being posted on the Web, printed in the newspaper tweeted and cry discrimination, is outrageous, at best

What happened was simply this…A flight attendant for the Airlines made poor choices when addressing complaints from several passengers aboard the flight with regard to the PDA between Leisha Hailey and her band mate. Leisha Hailey and her band mate made poor choices as well. The way Leisha and her band mate reacted to the Flight Attendant attempting to diffuse a potentially volatile altercation between passengers, while in-flight, in the wake of the anniversary of 911 was over the top and did nothing to help the Gay Communities’ cries for tolerance without regard to one’s sexual orientation and ultimately acceptance.

Perhaps if all parties had taken a moment to treat one another the way they would like to be treated and chose their battles carefully, none of this DRAMA would have happened and the situation certainly would not have escalated to the degree it did.

The way I see it, the Airlines look like hypocrites in that its ok to hire Flight Attendants from the Gay and Lesbian Community to work for them yet as passengers, there is zero tolerance; The Lesbians, Leisha Hailey and her band mate certainly got publicity in their representation of the Lesbian Community, not very favorable, however; Foxcrawl and their writers failed in the category of fair and responsible reporting; and, it must have been a REALLY SLOW NEWS DAY if this was worth reporting. As for me? I’d like to see what you have to say. I look forward to your response(s). Oh, write the redaction please. Tks.
