Benetton poster outrages Vatican: Pope Benedict kissing an Imam
Italian clothing company Benetton withdrew an advertising poster featuring Pope Benedict XVI kissing an imam after Vatican protested.

The controversial Benetton pulled the billboard with a photo montage that showed the mouth to mouth kissing between Pope and Imam. The poster was displayed right next to the Vatican, above Castel Sant’Angelo, and was intended to highlight the culture against hatred, according to the producers.
The Vatican was not very excited about such a stupid idea, and protested vehemently. “It is a serious lack of respect for the Pope, an offense to the feelings of believers and a clear example of how the advertising may violate the elementary rules of respect for the pope, in order to attract attention through a challenge,” said Vatican’s spokesperson.
The ad most likely managed to stun the passers-by and to anger the christians, muslims and Vatican altogether.
