Ekvall claimed Miss Venezuela back in 2000 when she was just 17, and the next year she was 3rd runner-up in the Miss Universe contest that took place in Puerto Rico. She followed a career of model, actress and television news anchor as well.

Futhermore she released also a book, “Fuera de Foco” (“Out of Focus”), unveiling her battle againts cancer.
Ekvall suffered some image modifications following her chemotherapy. She said in an interview for El Nacional publication that she hated to appear ugly but unfortunately that was beyond her control and “none said that cancer is something nice”.

According to her family, the model body will be delivered to a Houston crematorium to be burned on Monday and the funeral si scheduled to take place in Venezuela when the “remaining ash” will arrive to her native country.

Eva Ekvall is survived by her husband John Fabio Bermudez and their daughter who is aged 2.
