Broc Cresta, a team roper who participated in the National Finals Rodeo contest in the past 2 years, was discovered dead Saturday in his living trailer at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. He was 25-year-old.

According to investigators, the cause of his death is still unclear.

Broc Cresta was declared the 2007 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Rookie Heeler of the Year. He joined Turtle Powell in the 2010 NFR and Spencer Mitchell in 2011. Cresta also teamed with Logan Olson to claim the 2009 Cheyenne trophy.

“The whole rodeo world is in shock,” PRCA communications director Kendra Santos announced. “My phone rang the whole day with calls from Hall of Famers on down to little kids. Broc was a 4th-generation cowboy in California, and had a lot of fans.

“It is sad to lose a good cowboy when aged 90, but losing such a young and skilled person is almost unbearable. We send our condolences and prayers to Broc’s family and friends. The rodeo world is shocked at this moment.”
