Khamis Gaddafi, the youngest son of the ousted libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has died in fighting south of Tripoli. The news was revealed by a military commander of the rebels on Monday.

Colonel Al-Mahdi Al-Haragi, the commander of the Tripoli Brigades, said he received confirmation that Khamis was wounded in a battle near Ben Walid and Tarhoni, about 140 km south of the capital and died in a hospital.

Khamis died later in hospital from his injuries. He is buried in the neighborhood, said Haragi without mentioning when it happened. A U.S. official could not confirm but said to have heard the same info from some “reliable alternative sources”.
