The US student from Seattle appeared in a Perugia court today (3 Oct. 2011) for the last appeal against her conviction in a complicated murder case. She told the audience that she did not kill roommate and Leeds University student Meredith Kercher.

“I did not do the things they say I did. I did not kill, rape or steal. I was not there,” Knox said in Italian.

The judging board consisting of two professional and six lay judges withdrew to deliberate the verdict shortly after Knox’s last plea. The decision is gonna be released after 20:00 hrs local time (1800 GMT) on Monday.

Knox and Italian Raffaele Sollecito – her boyfriend at the time of the crime, are contesting a 2009 verdict that accused them of killing British student Meredith Kercher during a drug-fueled sexual aggression.
