Apparently some rocks just move by themselves in Racetrack Playa, Death Valley, California leaving behind stunning geommetric tracks.

Racetrack desert area is almost perfectly flat i.e. Playa means a lake bed overwhelmed by drought all time. So, if you cast a look over the mysterious area you can see for kilometers and no obstacle obstructs your view.

What is so special with this desert? Well, the people are puzzled because the stones seem to slide by themselves without any help from a propulsion source of an eventual slope of the terrain.

Interestingly, some rocks perform their trip in pairs, drawing nearly parallel tracks that resemble those left by a car or a railway.

Speed of displacement??? Well, according to some studies, part of the stones appear to move as fast as a person pace.

Witnesses? Nope! Nobody ever saw a rock moving!

Previous ideas, explanations? Yes, but all of them turned out to be unreliable. Experts suspected animals (pushing stones in the desert?), gravity, quakes, etc, but all these ended on a dead track. Of course, there is only room for imaginations, speculations, SF stories.

This phenomenon was subject of dozens scientific debates over years but it seems that no viable explanation came up so far. So, in case you have a plausible idea just step forward and probably NASA and whole scientific community will be happy.
