So King Juan Carlos gathered 292,752 euros in 2011. That figure includes his yearly salary of 140,519 euros and some other 152,233 euros were added as expenses related to his duties as a king.

The revealings of the incomes, was mainly determined by a corruption scandal involving king’s 43-year-old son-in-law Inaki Urdangarin. Urdangarin is a former basketballer and husband of Juan Carlos’ daughter Cristina.

Spain’s Royal Family said it would make public their incomes on 12 December 2011 despite of not being oblidged to do so.

“According to the Spanish constitution, the king has no obligation to unveil his accounts.
