Video: Fire outbreak at Albert Heijn in Kwintsheul

A large fire broke out at a branch of the supermarket Albert Heijn at Raaphorst in Kwintsheul (South Holland) Saturday in the evening. The blaze turned out to be uncontrollable that the building was completely reduced to ashes (scroll down for video and photos).

About 55 homes including an apartment building and 25 houses, were evacuated. The fire brigade flooded part of the flats which were close to the incident spot, to prevent the spread of the fire. The inhabitants are hosted elsewhere in the neighborhood. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The fire apparently ignited after the closing time at about 6 p.m., probably in the warehouse. The supermarket staff discovered the fire and evacuated the building. Then the employees tried to put out the flames by themselves but they failed and at that point the emergency alarm was sounded.
