Victor Ponta replies to Nature with letter featuring spelling errors

Romanian Government Press Office replied “Nature” on Thursday by issuing a letter which criticizes the scientific magazine for its decision to publish an incriminating article revealing allegations of plagiarism against the Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta (see letter below).

However the quality of the content is poor as the letter is sprinkled with various typos, which were highlighted by Nature on its internet website.

Here below you can see several spelling mistakes accidentally inserted in a few paragraphs of the letter delivered by the Romanian Government on behalf of Victor Ponta to Nature:

“As you are well aware, on the 18th of June, Mr. Victor Ponta, the Prime Minister of Romania was accused that an important part of hid [his] PhD thesis was plagiarized and the publication you are leading has taken up this charge. We would like to make it very clear that these accusations are unsubstantiated and have a very transparent political tinge, regrettably drawing your publication into a conflict. At the same time we believe that in order to be take [taken] into account, a plagiarism charge must come from a credible source, transparently presented, whereas the article published by your publication does not mention such a source, but quotes anonymous and undisclosed sources, as well as specialists from different fields of science than the one in question.

Victor Ponta was accused of plagiarising in his PhD thesis a paper authored by the reputed Romanian specials [specialist] Ion Diaconu. We would like to mention that the preface to the published version of the thesis is written by no other than Mr. Ion Diaconu, whose work Mr. Ponta is accused of plagiarising….” and so on.

Of course, many of the spelling errors are probably unwitting writing typos, but when sending an official letter to a magazine like Nature, you need to check the grammar twice before the “masterpiece” slips out of your hands.

Writing wrong is human too, we should not create now a drama or big laugh for those spelling errors, but unfortunately the ‘famous’ Nature & ScumBăsescu’s T.V.R.~info (National Television of the Orange Plague Propaganda), goes hand in hand and continues to play all the roles that were (very good) distributed: http://www.cotidianul.ro/tvr-info-si-nature-continua-sa-isi-joace-rolurile-in-care-au-fost-distribuite-186550/ 🙁

@Simon. You appear to be too conspirative and obsessed by Basescu and the “Orange plague”. Do you really think everything in this world is related to them? What do you mean “Basescu and Nature” go hand to hand? Part of the romanians see everything as a conspiracy from their own president.

This is not about human nature or spelling mistakes. Mr. Ponta is a thief, his answer to the accusations of plagiarism disqualifies him even more: I don’t care about titles, I will give up the doctor in international law title, it just doesn’t work like that. I cannot go still a car that I like, drive it for a few years in everybody’s admiration and when I’m caught say in my defense: it’s ok, I don’t need the damn car, just go ahead and take it. It’s just sad that all this can happen in an European country without consequences, I hope that the international community will not forget who Mr. Ponta is and treat him with the respect he deserves.

@J.R. Ponto is probably looking for a way out…but there is no exit door. Of course a Romanian committe will soon claim that his PhD thesis is fine and according to the standards,,,which I doubt. Nature knows to make difference between plagiarism and originality.
