The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) says that the virus that infected companies, municipalities and government agencies appears to be under control. Anti-virus company Kaspersky still sees an increase in the number of infections.
The NCSC asked the Dutch Internet Service providers to block the IP addresses infected by Dorifel virus, but some ISPs, such as UPC and Ziggo, have not complied yet with the demand. However the NCSC believes that the worst is gone.

Internet security company Fox-IT announced that a new malicious software is installed on the infected computers. The targeted PC’s are attacked by a new trojan called Hermes, which attempts to steal bank details. Most virus scanners are not able to discover Hermes.
Part of the computers infected with Dorifel had been earlier infected with another virus which made possible the rapid spread of Dorifel and is also used to facilitate Hermes infections. According to Fox-IT, the previous virus is no longer active.
