Closer publishes Kate Middleton photos. Images of The Duchess Of Cambridge rocks the British royal family

Celebrity French magazine Closer published exclusively in its Friday issue, some controversial photos of Kate Middleton who was spending her time time with Prince William on a holiday in Luberon, France (scroll down for a CNN video report).

According to officials of the royal family, the Duchess of Cambridge is ‘saddened’ with the French magazine announcement, reports BBC News.

“Discover in Closer exclusive photos which the world did not expect: the Duchess of Cambridge in various states of undress on the terrace of a guest house in Luberon”, writes the magazine on its website.

“For their second honeymoon, Kate and William chose Provence for a romantic stay. Completely alone. Main rule: while on holiday we forget about everything, the gloomy atmosphere in London and even the bathing suit which remained in Highness suitcase”, the French journalists wrote.

Closer claims that photographs were taken while the duke and duchess were on vacation last week at the French castle (Chateau D’Autet) of queen’s nephew, Lord Viscount Linley.

Princess photos, which are grainy and seem to have been snapped with a long lens, are not accessible on the Closer website, which in fact presents only the magazine’s front cover with heavily blurred-out images.

A St. James’s Palace spokesperson said the couple were “hugely saddened to learn that a French publication and a photographer have invaded their privacy in such a grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner.

“The incident is reminiscent of the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to The Duke and Duchess for being so”, the Palace rep. said

“Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them,” added the spokesman for the royals.

Now the UK Royal family consider to take legal steps and sue Closer Magazine which is blasted for a “grotesque” invasion of privacy. Officials are consulting with lawyers on what opportunities could be available to the pair.

On the other side, Closer chief editor Laurence Pieau described the photos as “a beautiful series” of shots, showing a couple in love. Pieau said that those images are not degrading at all and added that he owns even more interesting images of the royals that are part of the same series, but the French magazine decided not to release them.

Meanwhile William and Kate are on their Asia tour on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.

The couple are in Malaysia as they carry out a 9-day Southeast Asian tour of Commonwealth nations, which kicked off in Singapore.
