The YouTube clip, which attracted nearly 200,000 hits, was made on Valentine’s Day as “Ocean Ramsey” wanted to express her love for sharks.
She was shot by photographer Juan Oliphant, specializing in capturing underwater events across planetary oceans.
“Many people fear sharks because they were unfortunately portrayed on television and in films as killing machines,” said the shark-lover. “In reality, sharks are intelligent, calculated and generally very cautious in terms of proximity to people,” she added.

Ramsey made her swimming debut with sharks at the age of 14. Her longest time spent underwater without oxygen is 5 minutes and 45 seconds. She is currently a diving and surfing instructor but works also to protect the scariest predator fish, as she fears that the killing rate is alarming given sharks “bad” reputation.
“Sharks need to be seen as wildlife and appreciated for their role as top predators of the ocean”, says Ramsey.
