Three killed in Washington’s Columbia Mall armed attack, police say on Twitter

Several people were injured Saturday in an armed attack that took place at a shopping center located in the northern suburb of the capital Washington (scroll down for video report).

Local police confirmed they are investigating an incident inside Colombia Mall which is located between Washington and Baltimore (eastern Maryland).

According to an announcement posted by the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) on the social micro-blogging website Twitter, three people were killed in the attack.

The body of a deceased person was lying “near a firearm and ammunition,” said police which identified two victims as employees of a store at the mall.

Law enforcement units were called to intervene at the shooting scene at around 11:15 a.m. local time, shortly after shoppers reported the gunfire.
