SWAT teams and bomb disposal units are inspecting four buildings on the Harvard University campus in Boston following a bomb alert. All students were evacuated from both classrooms and adjacent buildings.
The threat is treated very seriously in the context of the Paris attacks, but especially since ISIS reiterated its intention to attack the United States which continue to bomb the jihadist group in Syria.
The University board announced that the threat has passed but the State Department specialists are still on the Harvard campus, according to a press release.
“As many of you know, we received an unconfirmed bomb threat affecting the Scientific Center as well as the Sever, Emerson and Thayer Halls from Cambridge campus. The buildings were evacuated by special forces who are currently on the spot. The entrance was restricted. We will keep you up-to-date as new information comes in”, reads the release.
“A number of classes across within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences have been canceled for the day. Faculty members and staff whose offices are in buildings being searched have been advised that they “may leave work for the day or find an alternative place on campus to work,” according to an email from FAS Dean of Administration and Finance, cited by The Harvard Crimson.
