Germanwings 4U 9525 crash: An Airbus A320 passenger plane carrying 150 people on board crashed dramatically in the Alps Mountains in southern France on Tuesday while en route from Barcelona (Spain) to Duesseldorf (Germany). Flight 4U9525 was operated by company Germanwings, a Lufthansa budget airline.

The Airbus A320 went down somewhere between Digne and Barcelonnette about 53 minutes after taking off at Barcelona airport at 10:01 a.m. CET. About 16 German schoolchildren are believed to be among the fatalities. French officials announced that there are no survivors of this tragic accident which occurred in an area where weather and terrain hamper the rescue operation. At least one rescue helicopter has reached the tragedy site and the “black box” flight data recorder has been recovered, according to French interior minister.
