“Canceling the Song Contest very unfortunate, but inevitable”
Dutch municipality of Rotterdam considers it “more than logical” that the Eurovision Song Contest has been canceled. The festival was supposed to be held in May, but the organization decided to pull the plug because of the corona virus crisis.

“It is very unfortunate, but this is the right decision. Developments surrounding the coronavirus have gone very fast in recent weeks. Many events have been canceled. It is more than logical that we are now also taking a step in the right direction,” said local alderman Said Kasmi
Kasmi is confident that his city will still be able to organize the next edition of the music event. “There has been a lot of hard work lately to make it an unforgettable edition. In that respect, Rotterdam is ready to welcome the 65th edition in 2021.”
Sad but true: #Eurovision2020 won’t take place in Rotterdam this year. Hopefully next year. For now the most important thing is the health of everyone in Europe and in the world – let’s keep believing in #musicfirst, and all the best to all the selected artists & songwriters
