An ATR-72 airplane carrying 43 people on board (39 passengers and 4 crew) crashed shortly after takeoff from Tyumen, Siberia on Monday morning (Apr. 2, 2012). Following the accident, 32 people died and 11 made it alive from the wreckage (scroll down for videos).
According to the flight operator UTair, the aircraft engaged into an emergency landing before plunging to the ground.
The survivors were transported to the hospitals where admitted to intensive care.
The causes of the crash are unknown but the authorities retrieved the plane’s data recorders which will reveal what went wrong aboard in the last minutes. So far, crew error and technical malfunction are taken into consideration as the most likely possibilities.
