Paranormal phenomenon in the skies of Japan after the earthquake on Thursday: UFO or just a light?

Light Flash Japan Quake

Strange light was seen in Japan’s sky during a 7.1 magnitude quake

A mysterious light appeared in the skies of Japan during the 7.1 earthquake that occurred two days ago. Paranormal enthusiasts say that bright light could have come from a UFO. Several television stations around the world have reported about the unusual light. However no one could give an exact explanation of the phenomenon that has been called “earthquake’s light. ”

The most widely presumed explanation is that this was an “earthquake light” – practically a spark that shows up in the sky during the moments of seismic activity.

This is not the first time such light appears on the sky, it happened also before – at Kalapana in 1975, L’Aquilla in 2009 and Chile in 2010 – but such phenomena are not entirely accepted by the scientific world.

Explanations:
Dr David Robinson, a quake scientist at Oxford University, revealed one cause this light might occur. “It is believed that shortly before an earthquake, there might be some accumulation of stress just prior to the event. People have thought about all types of mechanisms whereby this stress could get released as an electromagnetic de-excitation into the high atmosphere, which can lead to light appearance identical to the Northern Lights.” The ony issue here is the fact that nobody has ever explained why such things happen. “Anything that is generated by an unknown mechamism is odd,” he said. Another problem is that such effects do not occur during every possible quake, even if several similar phenomena had been previously spotted.

“We have a broad network of satellites capable to monitor every thunderstorm that takes place on Earth. If there is a burst of light during the quake, the satellites should be able to measure it, but actually that did not happen.”

The first is the piezoelectric effect: Tectonic plates contain minerals which undergo friction and therefore and electric field is created. Subsequently this filed might lead to atmosphere discharge.

A second possibility is that the lighting could predict quakes. According to such a theory, the ground releases radon, which leads to light generation into the atmosphere. The researcher says this is “clutching at straws” though. Robinson doesn’t reject the possibility of earthquake lights, but he thinks the phenomena should be sukect to further research.

“The fact that we can not explain something it does not mean it is not real. But there is a long way until someone will come up with a plausible explanation.”

Four people died and over 100 were injured after the hit of the 7.1 quake, the strongest recorded since the double disaster of 11 March.
