Joran van der Sloot was apparently threatened with death in the Peruvian prison where he is detained. His lawyer Maximo Altez has triggered an alarm at the Dutch embassy in Lima over a possible assassination plot against the Dutchman.

Van der Sloot would have been taken out of his cell on Friday night at 11 p.m. and moved to another part of the Piedras Gordas prison following the death threats.
According to Altez, that section of the prison accommodates Peru’s most dangerous criminals who are likely to kill Joran “for a little money”.
