MiG-21 crashed in Egypt killing one civilian

A civilian was killed today when a MiG -21 fighter jet crashed in a village in southern Egypt , while crew managed to escape by activating the ejection mechanism of their seats.

The aircraft which took off from the military airport in Luxor for a training mission, caught fire shortly after being airborne for reasons still undetermined.

The pilot and co-pilot managed to eject themselves out and land to safety, but a villager died and three other were injured after the plane crashed on their house in the region al-Madamod, near Luxor.

Military spokesman, Colonel Ahmed Mohammed Ali wrote on his Facebook page that the fighter jet crashed due to a technical failure. He did not give more details on the incident.
