Spammers and hackers deceive people on Facebook claiming Flight 370 was found in Bermuda Triangle

Viral Facebook posts claiming that the Boeing 777 passenger jet that disappeared on March 8 with 239 people on board was found in the Bermuda Triangle, are fact nothing else than spreading malware as they contain links to fake websites or surveys created by hackers in order to take financial advantage of the increased interest in this subject.

The posts feature highlighting videos and state that passengers are alive or rescued. Other links divert websurfers to some sites created by hackers in order to gather information about users.

Most messages are prefixed with the words “Breaking” or “Shocking video” to capture folks’ attention, writes the Independent.

But the scams are found also outside Facebook as the links call for people to share and spread the links to more groups on various social media websites including the widely popular Twitter. In the end, the whole tumult is a battle for clicks and survey completion.
