Facebook is overwhelmed by malicious messages which claim that missing Malaysia Airlines plane operating flight MH370 was found in the Bermuda Triangle.
The posts feature highlighting videos and state that passengers are alive or rescued. Other links divert websurfers to some sites created by hackers in order to gather information about users.
Most messages are prefixed with the words “Breaking” or “Shocking video” to capture folks’ attention, writes the Independent.
But the scams are found also outside Facebook as the links call for people to share and spread the links to more groups on various social media websites including the widely popular Twitter. In the end, the whole tumult is a battle for clicks and survey completion.
