Stosur shocks Serena Williams in final of US Open 2011

Australian Samantha Stosur smashed Serena Williams in the final of the US Open with two straight sets 6-2 6-3 (scroll down for videos).

It took Stosur 73 minutes to claim the victory and her first Grand Slam title. 9/11 was not a favorable day for Serena despite being warmly supported by patriotic crowd on the 10th anniversary of the WTC attacks. Thus the US tennis woman was denied her 4th US Open crown and 14th Grand Slam title.

Even if she was only seeded 28th, Williams was regarded with confidence as she had previously won 2 warm-up tournaments – including also a win against Stosur in the final act of Rogers Cup in Toronto.

Stosur is a class act, unlike Serena Williams who has time and again shown a lack of sportsmanship, and lack of respect for others. I don’t see other champions like Federer and Nadal yelling at line officials and umpires in such a wrathful way, and it is disgusting to watch it. Williams’ excuses at her press conferences are pathetic! She should be banned from tennis – she is not a champion.
