    The real issues are the comparisons between the F 35 and its potential opponents such as the latest Sukhoi. The comparisons are shockingly in favour of the latter and if the US, and hence ‘the West’ wishes to lose air superiority, then simply keep with the F-35 program!!

    Let’s look at some examples of what I mean:
    * So-called stealth features – it’s not as stealthy as we are led to believe by the manufacturers.
    * Being an air superiority aircraft – it was never designed to be one, only to support the
    F-22
    * Number of weapons – 4 missiles versus 10 missiles isn’t good
    * Range of missiles – Russian air-to-air missiles have a loger range than the West’s
    * Close combat (for when the F-35 runs out of missiles!!) – the Sukhoi can easily out manouvre the F-35.
    * Speed – a supposed 1.8 Mach for he F-35, which it still hasn’t reached compared to 2.2 Mach – so when the F-35 expends its missiles it can be çhased down’!!

    Is the above enough to show everyone that the F-35 is going to become a very expensive target and the US needs to consider a new fighter path, possibly being a combo of F-22 and F-35 technology without the ridiculous price tag of each, not to forget the usual endless deadline to develop. It’s either that, or suffer a lot of future pain and loss of life.
